In memory of jane hudson
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jane Hudson, a truly insightful woman whose own experience inspired a groundbreaking project to advance accessible healthcare.
Jane's life highlighted a critical challenge: she was a patient who, due to physical disabilities, was unable to receive a mammogram. Her personal story became the catalyst for the Mammobot project—research dedicated to creating a robotic system for breast cancer screening that is inclusive of all women. Her guidance and commitment were essential in launching this work.
Continuing JANE'S Legacy: Support the Mammobot Project
As a final, inspiring request, Jane wished that collections in her memory be donated toward the Mammobot project.
By making a donation, you are helping to fulfil Jane’s wish and ensuring the continuation of the research she so passionately championed.
All funds collected in Jane’s memory will go directly to furthering the development of the Mammobot project.
This vital work is a collaboration between the University of York (School of Physics, Engineering and Technology and Institute for Safe Autonomy), York Teaching Hospital, and a generous grant from Breast Cancer Now. The team, led by Dr. Jihong Zhu, is committed to making Jane’s vision of accessible screening a reality.
"We have a clear path from our current prototype to a patient-ready solution, but we face one critical hurdle: funding. To begin clinical trials, we must purchase certified, medical-grade robotic manipulators, which are the required standard for safe patient use. Your contribution will directly fund this essential equipment, allowing us to launch these vital trials and bring Mammobot out of the lab and into the clinics where it is desperately needed. Please donate today to help us honour Jane's legacy and make screening accessible for all." - Dr Jihong Zhu
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
