MURDER IN C MINOR: A HITMAN MUSICAL

We are a team of passionate final year film and television production students at the University of York. Our crew is made up of seven members, and we have been working on our film tirelessly and will be for the remainder of our final year. But now we need your help to bring Murder in C Minor to life.

This will be our final project at the university, and we are excited to bring together all we have learnt over three years, as well as our joint enthusiasm and passion for filmmaking, to create this project.

Our film is hugely unique; a musical crime noir isn’t something you’ll see every day. With three original musical numbers, this film will have bands, choreographers and a large ensemble of talented actors. This project is ambitious, with a grand concept; we have a lot of work ahead of us to pull it off.

Most noticeably, we require a theatre space to give this impressive production a worthy location to bring it to life. We are in the process of scouting local, Yorkshire-based venues for this. Reaching our budget will give us a wider scope of options and the ability to travel our crew and talent to these locations.

Crucially, this film will celebrate the local talent of singers, actors, dancers, bands and choreographers that this film cannot be made without. York’s creative talent is broad and impressive, and we hope our film will be a place of collaboration and celebration of this talent.

Locations – We need an impressive theatre venue to achieve the look we want. Therefore, we have a budget of £550 to go towards hiring the impressive spaces we require.

Travel and accommodation – With our large and talented cast and crew that will be behind this film, we will need to ensure they can travel to our filming locations and have suitable accommodation. With a large ensemble cast and crew, we have a budget of £550 for this.

Production – The main bulk of our budget will go towards our production costs. This will predominantly be building set pieces, costumes, makeup and props to help create a grand opera scene. With many things to consider, our budget for this is £850.

Catering – With such a large team, we will need to fuel everyone to keep energy high and stomachs full while on set. We have set aside £300 for this.

Contingency – When making any film, plans can go wrong. We therefore will set aside 10% of our budget (£250) in case of any emergencies.

Any money left over? – In this unlikely case, any leftover funds will be put towards submission fees for film festivals!
