OUR project:
RADIØ is a 15-minute short film set in the mid-2000s; a gritty, character driven story about skateboarding, friendship, and the chaos that comes with growing up. It follows four young adults from fractured homes who find escape through skateboarding and a shared dream: to create their own DIY clothing brand.
What begins as rebellion quickly becomes their only sense of purpose. But as their ambition grows, so does the tension. Friendships fracture, trust erodes, and pain threatens to tear the group apart. At its heart, RADIØ is about creativity born from struggle and the question of whether pain can build something real, or only destroy it.
We aim to raise £2,500 to make RADIØ a reality! This project will be supported from beginning to end with your contributions and every donation will go a long way!
MEET THE CREW:
We are a group of eager and aspirational filmmakers in our 3rd year of Film and TV production at the University of York. By supporting this project, you will be aiding in an experience in which we will be able to learn skills that will take us forward into our careers in the film industry.
Our story
From growing up in the early 2000s we experienced a monumental period of change and cultural turbulence at a trajectory never seen before. A time where technology and the internet were developing at an expeditious speed, music from artists such as Black Eyed Peas, Avril Lavigne, and Green day were topping the charts, and clothing brands that are well-renowned today, were just getting their start; we want to transport ourselves back to that unique and nostalgic period that is so personal to us and our upbringings.
Where Your donations WILL go:
Catering: (£500)
This shoot will take place over 6 days and this money will go towards ensuring that we can provide meals for the cast and crew to make sure that everyone is well fed and looked after!
Travel: (£350)
We will need to cover the fuel and transport costs of the cast and crew to ensure everyone, and the equipment, can make it to the locations. To match the 2000s time period, we will also be acquiring some 90s-00s cars to feature in the background of sets to immerse the viewer.
Production design: (£1000)
This is the where the biggest portion of donations will be allocated, and will help us recreate authentic 2000s fashion, skate graphics, and gritty city textures. As well as this, we will be creating our own clothing with the RADIØ logo which is embedded in the characters story through their bond over the creation of a new skater fashion brand. These exclusive pieces will then be made available as part of the rewards scheme.
Locations: (£350)
These donations will go towards ensuring we can secure the best possible locations for the film, from skateparks authentic to the period, to the characters turbulent homes.
Contingency: (£300)
Unforeseen circumstances can happen at any time and putting some money aside will ensure that we will be able to deal with any situation in the most effective way.
Extra funds:
Any extra funds will go towards entering the finished film into festivals.
