Roudhan Beckwith (24 March 2003 – 16 June 2023) lived life to the fullest. A second-year Biology student and a proud member of Halifax College, Roudhan truly loved the University and the City of York. Whether in the lab or on the football pitch, his enthusiasm was infectious, and his commitment to his education was unwavering.
Following a tragic accident in Brussels, Roudhan’s family - his parents, Steve and Josephine, and his younger brother, Dylan - sought a way to ensure his passion for science and inclusion would live on.
A Legacy of Opportunity
Roudhan spoke often and passionately about the importance of internships. In his honor, his family chose to support GenerationResearch, a vital initiative within the Department of Biology. This project breaks down barriers, offering inclusive and diverse pathways for students to pursue careers in science - values Roudhan held dear. To date, the incredible generosity of family and friends has raised over £30,000. This support has already changed lives, funding three students through paid summer STEM placements that might otherwise have been out of reach.
