Join us in this 1950's murder mystery to solve clues and ultimately catch the killer!

Our Project

Step into The Final Act, our immersive and interactive murder mystery set in the era of the 1950s - where audiences don’t just watch the story unfold, they help solve it. A tour guide will lead audiences through various intriguing spaces that will hold clues and uncover a thought provoking narrative that will nudge participants towards solving the mystery. With the combination of immersive set dressing and live performances from actors, the crime scene will be brought to life as you walk through each room gathering clues. With your help, we are aiming to raise £2,500 to make this production a reality!

We are also offering a morning where we run accessible walkthroughs for those with additional needs and sensory sensitivities, as we believe it is important for our experience to be inclusive to everyone.

The Final Act is Syncretism's second event, with last year's project ‘Echos of the Moon’ successfully entertaining audiences; which included live performances from talented singers and musicians, aerial performers and captivating atmospheric stage effects such as a water pool and digital projections designed by our team. This year we are hoping to deliver on a production just as impressive, but this time offering something new to audiences with our theatrical murder mystery.

Our team

Our crew is divided into teams to enable the best possible outcome for this project but we all work collaboratively throughout the development of the event. Together we are Syncretism Events!

Altogether our goal is to provide an enjoyable experience to people from the local community, as well as wider audiences, whilst also giving students within the university the opportunity to express themselves creatively and push their visionary limits. By donating to us you allow not only this project to go ahead but you also encourage future creative student-led projects to be made. Your donation will be seen, felt and will make a difference to our production and positively impact the experience people have at our event.

Where your support will be used

With our aim of £2,600 our funds will be allocated accordingly across key areas including →

Design

Costume & Makeup - £400

Set dressing & Props - £500

Construction - £350

Other expenses - £600

With the main spending area in our budget being design, we will be utilising the budget by spreading it across the 4 outlined areas shown. This is necessary as the set will enhance the audience’s experience and create further immersion into the world of this 1950’s murder mystery. We will undoubtedly be including detailed and technical elements within the design area of the production which will further support this.

Catering

Roughly £450 will be put aside for catering, this is crucial for everyone involved that food is provided in conjunction with the two days the event runs for.

Contingency

As with any project, a contingency plan is a realistic addition to a production budget and with this proposed amount of £300 all areas within the project will be covered. This will be crucial to ensure the smooth running and set up of the production and if it is not needed the funds will be allocated elsewhere, such as on the production’s design to push it to a higher level.

Rewards

With your donation we will provide rewards to thank you for your kind contribution to our production, this currently consists of a thank you post on our Instagram story however, this is open to change and expand thus we will keep you up to date with the changes in our crediting system through our Instagram - as we may be adding more rewards for different amounts donated - because we believe your contribution should be celebrated!
