York Formula Student 2026 – Help Us Get to Competition!
We are raising £1,000 to secure our Formula Student 2026 competition entry fee. This is the essential first step that allows us to compete, innovate, and represent the University of York on a national stage. Anything you can give, even a small amount, helps us get one step closer to the start line.
Who are we?
We are York Formula Student, a student run engineering racing team at the University of York. Our group includes students from engineering, physics, business, computing, and many other disciplines. Formula Student is accessible to anyone at the university. You do not need previous experience to join. Many members start as beginners and gain practical skills that help launch careers in engineering, motorsport, design, and project management.
Our story
Formula Student is the UK’s biggest engineering competition. University teams design, build, and race their own single seat race car. It is exciting, challenging, educational, and a valuable real world engineering experience. The first cost we must cover is the entry fee. Without this, we cannot secure a competition slot. Raising this money now allows us to confirm our place for 2026, grow our team, and begin development on the new car.
For many students, this project is the closest thing to real industry work. It involves deadlines, design cycles, manufacturing challenges, teamwork, and testing. It offers experience that employers highly value. Your donation helps make this experience possible.
What are we doing and why?
We are fundraising to cover the £1,000 entry fee for Formula Student 2026. Entering the competition allows us to take part in all events, receive support from industry professionals, present our work, and compete at Silverstone.
Why is this important to us?
Formula Student is more than a race. It is a year long educational challenge that gives students the chance to learn, experiment, and build a real functioning race car. For many of us, it is the highlight of our degree.
Why should it matter to donors?
Your donation directly supports students gaining hands on engineering and design experience that cannot be gained in lectures alone. You will help young engineers build a car, develop valuable skills, and take an important step toward their future careers.
Where will the money go?
Our target is £1,000 and this will be used entirely for the Formula Student 2026 competition entry fee.
If we hit our minimum target of £1,000:100 percent of the funds will pay the Formula Student 2026 entry fee.
If we exceed our target:Additional funds will support the development of the 2026 car. Examples include materials and manufacturing, testing equipment, sensors, and workshop supplies. Even small extra amounts help improve reliability, safety, and performance.

We will post updates every one to two weeks during the campaign and continue sharing progress as the 2026 car is developed.
Rewards
We have a range of rewards to thank everyone who donates, no matter the amount. If you choose to donate more than £10, we will give you the option to have your name on our "Supporters" page of our website. More than £20, we will give you the option to have your name on our car. Any support in any way helps!
