In Memory of Dr Antonia Keung.

Dr Antonia Keung, Lecturer in Social Policy, School for Business and Society sadly passed away on the 1st October 2024.

Born in Hong Kong in 1979, Antonia moved to the University of York in 2000 and completed a BA and a PhD in Social Policy.

Antonia’s research focused on fuel poverty and her work provided an early warning on the impacts of rising fuel prices on household incomes and raised awareness that larger families with children, and lone‐parent families with two or more children, are more likely to be experiencing fuel poverty, and exposed the detrimental impact that this can have for children and young people. Antonia’s research was a key driver in the formation of the Cost of Living Research Group.

Antonia was a beloved and highly respected colleague and her commitment to child poverty and well-being as well as her personal determination is inspirational for us all. Our thoughts are with her family, especially her surviving husband and children who she loved dearly.

Any gifts in Antonia’s memory given by this page will support The York Sanctuary Fund, an area Antonia previously supported. As a University of Sanctuary, York has a long history of providing safety to those who need it, providing security, comfort and opportunities for students, academics and human rights defenders at risk here at York, and supporting brighter, more hopeful futures for our students.

Thank you on behalf of the School for Business and Society.

If you are considering a larger in-memoriam gift, and would like to have a conversation first, please get in touch with Maresa Bailey, Legacy & In-Memory Giving Manager, at maresa.bailey@york.ac.uk.
