Syncretism Presents: ECHOES OF THE MOON
Join us for an unforgettable evening as Syncretism presents: Echoes of the Moon, a mesmerising music concert that transcends the ordinary. Immerse yourself in a world where spectacular lighting, immersive projections, captivating dance performances and epic music fill our scenic stage theatre.
Echoes of the Moon explores aspects and stages of the moon throughout its cycles, delving into their symbolism and impact on existence. Themes from dark folk magic, tides and emotions, madness, dream worlds, other realms and the moon as controller of reality. Intense music from electronic dance subgenres such as psy-trance and cinematic ambient textures accompanied by a diverse range of soloists from across the School of Arts and Creative technologies.
Content warning: May contain scenes of horror and dark symbolism that may not be suitable for young children 12 or below. The show will feature loud intense music and flashing lights.

Who are we?
Produced by Paul Ryan, Echoes of the Moon follows Venus Rise, an immersive concert produced in the summer of 2024. Complimenting the concept of its predecessor, Echoes of the Moon aims to bring together the creative talent across the School of ACT, to create a truly impressive spectacle.
We will also involve students from our variety of courses. This will give them some great experiences during their time studying. Some of our students have taken charge of project management, marketing, finance and recruitment.
We will also utilise our incredibly talented music students to help us write and play some original music. Moreover, we hope to allow our Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance students the chance and technical roles as well as stage management roles. We also hope to record the performance using the department's impressive studio equipment and use our Film and Television Production students and Business of Creative Industry students to help with this. And lastly, we hope to incorporate some impressive graphics and visual effects into our show and recruit some interactive media students to help with this.
The School of ACT is a community of creatives that span across many different fields. We hope this concert will be a celebration of the incredible talent this department has to offer.
THE STUDENT production TEAM
Echoes of the Moon is being run by staff and students alike! Below is the student team and their roles!
Project manager - Grace Reade
Grace is our project manager for Echoes of the Moon! She is a second-year Business of the Creative Industries student and she is overseeing the whole process of creating this production.
Marketing - Maisie Clegg
Maisie is running our marketing for Echoes of the Moon! She is also a second-year Business of the Creative Industries student and she will be in charge of running our social media and the promotion for this event.
Recruitment and Budgeting - Maisie Gibson
Our second Maisie is managing the recruitment and the budget for Echoes of the Moon! She is a second-year Film and Television Production student, and she is raising and managing funds as well as searching for the abundance of talent we need for the concert.
THE CONCEPT
Echoes of the Moon will be an audio-visual concert from colleagues across the School of Act at the University of York, taking place on the 11th of June 2025. The concert will incorporate a blend of original music, breathtaking dance and technology. Creating a visually stunning and audibly impressive show that displays the transformative cycle our moon takes throughout the course of the year.
Where will the money go?
Your generous donations will go towards creating a truly spectacular show! As this event is free to attend, your donations are imperative for us to create Echoes of the Moon!
A portion of our funding will go towards the impressive visuals of this show will require a portion of the budget. With the overall theme of the moon and its stages, there will be an impressive moon hanging over the stage. The set will create a stunning impact, complimenting the music and dancing perfectly. For this piece of set, we have budgeted £400.
Moreover, a water feature on the stage will create a beautiful reflection of our incredible dancers and the moon hanging above. All of these elements will work in unison to truly blow you away! But we need your help to do so! For the pool, we have budgeted another £300.
We are also planning for our impressive dancers to have stunning costumes that will highlight their beautiful moves. This will include stunning make-up and some costume changes that will be vital in the narrative of the show. For the costumes and make-up, we have budgeted £300.
This is only a portion of the budget we will need to put on this event! As we hit targets, we will update you to show our progress! This will include an exciting portion of the show we really hope to include, but we can only do this if we meet our goal! We will need a minimum of £500 for this. So, we need your help to achieve this, any donation is greatly appreciated!
