Hello and Welcome to Harmony Line Presents: 'From Now On'
This is the final concert that Harmony Line will perform before the majority of its members graduate and the ensemble is disbanded. We need YOUR help to make this concert the best one yet!
Our Project
Harmony Line is a student run Musical Theatre Vocal Ensemble within the Music Department at The University of York. The ensemble was founded and is run by third year music student Connagh Tonkinson and has now become the ONLY Musical Theatre Ensemble at the university. Harmony Line perform a lunchtime concert every term and had their first large evening concert last summer.
The Story of harmony line
Towards the end of 2015, 6 first years decided to book a practise room and have a little sing. We came across the piece 'Shadowland' from The Lion King and realised the potential of making something special. Fast forward 9 weeks and all of a sudden we had 25 members of Harmony Line performing their first lunchtime concert entitled 'Corner of the Sky' in the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall. Since then, the ensemble has gone from strength to strength, forming not only an incredible group of singers but also giving individual people the opportunity to nurture and develop their musical theatre voices. Harmony Line rehearsals are focussed on the importance of ensemble singing, progression of the performers as singers in both their self confidence and the practicing of vocal technique and ultimately, enjoying the experience.
Harmony Line gives people all over campus a chance to get involved with Musical Theatre in a place where they feel welcome to make mistakes, learn from them and grow as both performer and person.
From Now On
'From Now On' is Harmony Line's final concert before the majority of the ensemble graduate in July 2018. We want this concert to be fantastic and to ensure we go out with a bang! The concert is the most ambitious concert to date with incredible music that features difficult harmonies and character development for all performers. On June 15th at 7:30pm, we will present a programme of 27 songs from 9 musicals, including Dear Evan Hansen, Miss Saigon, Wicked and The Greatest Showman.
Harmony Line has now grown since its initial concert and has a total of 31 exceptionally talented performers who can not wait to get to grips with this challenging programme!
