A short summary of our project
We are aiming to raise £2000 towards our research trip to Ghana. This trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity allowing each member to research a field close to their heart, from environmental to political science, covering topics including climate change, equality, education and sustainability.This trip will allow us to gain vital experience in conducting research in the field, partnering with other universities, and exposing us to the challenges of working in a developing country. Any donations you are able to make will go a long way in helping us to reach our goal.
Who are we?
We are a group of 11 undergraduate students studying Global Development at the University of York. We share a common interest in helping to create a fairer and more sustainable world, and overcoming the challenges in doing so.
Our story
During our 2 week trip to Ghana, we will be carrying out individual research projects, visiting the Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition and learning about Ghanaian history and culture. This opportunity will allow us to broaden our cultural awareness and gain a deeper understanding of development issues in Ghana. We will gain hands-on research experience and contribute to global development research. This experience will also give us transferable skills for our future careers in the development sector. Donating to our research trip will support knowledge exchange and your contributions will help facilitate research in addressing real-world issues and fostering sustainable solutions. It’s an investment in global awareness, cooperation, and the pursuit of solutions to global development challenges, making a meaningful difference in the world.
Where will the money go?
Your donations will contribute towards:
- Research assistance from the University of Ghana including translators and research assistants.
- Carrying out primary data collection.
- Visiting Accra and The Cape Coast to study their histories to gain contextual insights for field research.
- Costs for transport, accommodation, expeditions and research coordination.
