We're walking (& running/cycling!) the world to fundraise for groundbreaking mental health research.

Team RSA NEEDS YOUR HELP!

The Relatively Spectacular Adventurers (AKA four of us from the Research Student Admin team at the University of York) are taking on The Great York Walk, a challenge event where we log our daily steps (predominantly through walking, but also running and cycling count too), that will help to transform mental health by raising funds for Mentally Fit York at the University of York.

Mental ill-health doesn't discriminate and right now, mental health has never been more important as the social implications of coronavirus begin to unravel. So together with loads of other people - some with a connection to York, some with no connection - we're going to be counting our daily steps for the next 11 weeks (10th May - 31st July) to contribute to a 25,000 mile walking goal. That's the equivalent of a walk around the Earth!

Gem's target is 150 miles (at least 100 of which she pledges to run, rather than walk, and running is waaaay down the list of Gem's preferred sports so this will definitely be a challenge).

Both Charlotte and Frances' target is 150 miles each, and Jess' target is 50 miles, which means....

...we have a total team distance target of 500 miles! (Cue the Proclaimers...)

Please donate anything you can to help us reach our fundraising target (and to keep us motivated to meet our distance target!) and, in turn, improve mental health in York and beyond! :)

about mentally fit york

Our walk will be in aid of Mentally Fit York, which will promote good mental health on a local, national and international scale. Your support will be used to fund initiatives such as 24/7 mental health support for York students and research projects to further our understanding of mental health issues and the barriers to accessing support services.

Your support may also go towards providing suicide prevention training, Mental Health Nursing Scholarships or it could contribute to a range of other initiatives which are decided by an expert panel of mental health and wellbeing researchers, practitioners and advocates. Find out more about what Mentally Fit York has supported.
