THAT'S A WRAP!
First and foremost, I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my fundraiser. In total, the Great York Walk has raised £30,000 for Mentally Fit York by walking over 130,000 miles (215,000 km)! Every contribution, every mile, and every step counts towards a much bigger picture, so thank you all once again.
In total, I walked 228 miles (so close to 230!) or 366 kilometres or 536,556 steps!
My team and I walked 1,012.2 miles / 1,629.0 km, putting us at the 40th place on the leaderboard! Thanks to Cath, Rokas, and Charlie for joining me in this challenge.
That's my final update, but I hope to do this again next year - so stay tuned x
Met my stretch goal!
Apologies for my lack of posts - I went on holiday last week! With just 3 days to go until the end of the Great York Walk, over the past 2 weeks I've been really pushing myself to walk 200 miles - 45 miles more than my initial goal... and I'm happy to say I've done it! I walked just over 51 miles, putting me at a grand total of 217 MILES! I'm going to try meet a further stretch goal, to hit 230 miles in the next three days.
Once again I'd like to thank everyone who has supported my campaign, and I would like to encourage you all to support my teammates Cath (https://spsr.me/6Xd8), Rokas (https://spsr.me/9UaM) and Charlie (https://spsr.me/t924). Remember that every £1 that you donate to a fundraising page will unlock an extra £2 donation at no extra cost to you. Make sure to donate before 11:59pm (GMT) 31st July to make sure your donation is processed!

MET MY GOAL!
On Thursday last week, I met my 155 mile target with just under 3 weeks until the end of the challenge! Thank you to everyone who has donated to my cause and has supported me throughout my journey. I've decided therefore to extend my target to 200 miles by the end of the month. Currently therefore, I walked 15 miles last week, putting me at a total of 166 miles!
Please support my teammates' fundraising pages Cath (https://spsr.me/6Xd8), Rokas (https://spsr.me/9UaM) and Charlie (https://spsr.me/t924) reach their goals, and remember that every £1 that you donate to a fundraising page will unlock an extra £2 donation at no extra cost to you. If you were considering making a donation to support me but haven’t yet had the chance, there is no better time than now! Any donation you can give will help make a huge difference, for example, a gift of just £25 will unlock an extra £50, that’s a total contribution of £75.
THANK YOU!
Hi everyone! First and foremost, thank you so much for helping me reach my fundraising goal! Each pound you donate will directly help support Mentally Fit York, and in total the Great York Walk has raised £17,500 so far! And I have some exciting news regarding this:
Thanks to a group of very generous donors to the University of York, every £1 that you donate to my fundraising page will unlock an extra £2 donation at no extra cost to you. The group has pledged to donate a total of £20,000 but we need your help to unlock this incredible gift before 31st July!

In terms of my progress, I have done a lot better this week after recovering from my awful cold. In the past week, I have walked 20 miles (double from the previous!) which puts me at a total of 151 miles - just 4 miles away from reaching my walking goal!
A bit of a set back - but not for long!
Hey everyone! Unfortunately this week I didn't walk as much as I wanted because I had to self-isolate for 4 days while I waited for a test result (thankfully negative!). Already made better progress yesterday, so the total I've walked in the past week and a bit was 10 miles, which puts me at a total 131 miles! I am so close to hitting my fundraising goal, so please help me out by sharing this page with your friends and family!
THANK YOU!
Hi all, another update from me! First and foremost, I wanted to thank you you all for contributions, and helping me get so to my fundraising goal. Over the past 5 days (trying to get back to Monday updates!), I have walked 12 miles, which puts me at a total of 121!
WE'RE HALWAY there!
Yesterday, the Great York Walk has achieved a total of 105,442.0km // 65,518.6 miles at our halfway point through this challenge. We have raised a total of £14,104, and that couldn't have happened without your generosity.
Speaking of, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported my fundraiser over this challenge, and I'm nearly at my fundraising goal. In terms of my updates, over the past 5 days I have walked 19 miles, which puts me at a total of 109 miles (that's just over 70%)!
Please continue to share my page, and I'll be back with another update next week!
A (very) late update!
Hi all! Apologies for the lack of updates, I was in the midst of completing my assessments and packing up the majority of my things as I'll be moving soon. But, I've hit a few milestones!
Firstly, I hit over 100,000 steps yesterday! It's absolutely crazy to think how many hours of walking that is to achieve. Secondly, as of yesterday, I walked just over 51 miles, which puts me at a total of 90 miles! I'd like to once again thank everyone for the support they've given me, and encourage you to share my or my teammates' fundraising pages Cath, Rokas or Charlie for Mentally Fit York.
No pictures this week, but I'll be sure to have some by next week!
Be back on Monday with another update,
Emily
WE'VE WALKED THE WORLD!
Here's my weekly update! First and foremost, all of our collective walkers hit 25,000 miles yesterday (which is the equivalent of walking around the world)! It's been an absolute pleasure to have been a part of this amazing challenge - and we've only just finished Week 2!
But now on to my own personal progress. Last week I walked just over 22 miles // 35 km, and with a total of 39 miles so far, I'm 26% of the way to meeting my goal! It looks like I'll be hitting my goal a lot sooner than I thought, so I might be increasing my goal to 250 miles instead to really push myself (but that will depend on how much I walk in the next two weeks because of exams haha)!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me and Mentally Fit York so far, please check out my other teammates' fundraising pages: Charlie Rhodes, Cath Brisbane, and Rokas Subačius. And now, a collection of photos I've taken over the course of my strolls this week (I managed to catch some gooselings and ducklings on camera):
*Whoops, meant to say 24% to meeting my goal!
a WEEK IN summary!
Week 1 of the Great York Walk is over! Unfortunately I got a bit ill last week, and although I did try to get out of the house I didn't manage to get as many steps in as I would've hoped! With exams coming up too, I'm going to work my hardest to get out everyday to hit that goal! Despite the setback, I walked 17 miles last week!
I went on a brisk walk today, hitting about 2.3 miles mark! Didn't take any photos as I wanted to go away without my phone for a bit, and with the weather so crisp and fresh it felt fantastic. Thank you to those who have donated to my fundraiser so far, I hope you'll help me spread the word!
Let's Get Started!
Today I started the Great York Walk with a bang (I managed to get home right before the thunder started)! Walking around campus for about an hour, I’ve done approx. 3.3 miles! I often enjoy taking pictures of wildlife and the area, so here are some pictures for you to enjoy - I caught some very cute sleeping ducks.
I absolutely encourage you to support my teammates' fundraising pages Cath (https://spsr.me/6Xd8), Rokas(https://spsr.me/9UaM) and Charlie (https://spsr.me/t924)!
