Hi! We’re raising £2,500 to make a short film that will start necessary conversations within strained families.

SUMMARY:

We’re making a short comedy-drama film called Grace Redacted but we need your help to bring it to life! Making this project is so important to us, but it won’t be possible without your support.

This film is our final university project and will be crucial for determining the beginning of our careers. It will provide us with an essential opportunity to attain necessary skills in new roles which we will carry with us into the next stage of our lives.

Our project:

Logline: A dedicated writer transports himself into his stories where he manages the lives of his characters. His progress halts when a written-out character demands a second chance. 

Grace Redacted is an ambitious short film which combines real and fictional worlds. This rollercoaster ride of different genres and styles is, at its core, a heartfelt story about a father and daughter repairing their troubled relationship. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) is an example of the aesthetic and Little Miss Sunshine (2006) is an example of the themes we will encapsulate.

The Team:

I'm Ayesha and I’m the Director. I can't wait to approach this with wit and style, which demonstrates what up and coming filmmakers can do when they are given the chance.

Hi! I’m Francesca and I am the Production Manager, Producer and Assistant Director of this film. I can’t wait to start finding eccentric locations to film impressive transitions!

I’m Jacob and I am the Writer. I am most excited about exploring the relationship between the two main characters and seeing this dynamic come to life after the script is written. 

I’m Dana and I am the Director of Photography. I am excited to film how Grace will jump between story worlds, and use visual language to reveal the bond between a father and daughter. 

I’m Evan and I am the Sound Designer. My goal is to immerse the audience into story worlds, with sound texture and background sound, whilst matching the soundtrack to the mood and character. 

I’m Cal and I am the Designer. I am most excited about portraying my vision to the audience and exploring the different potential story worlds. 

I’m Stanley and I am the Editor. I am most excited about editing the jumps between story worlds, creating a dream-like and whimsical atmosphere. 

BUDGETS: 

Why do we need £2,500?

Well, because this film is so creative and adventurous in terms of visual aesthetic, we will need to buy and construct a range of detailed set design, costume, locations and equipment.

Not to mention the cost of travel, accommodation, catering and contingency. 

We will need to create an environment in which the father and daughter live, as well as multiple different fictional story worlds. These include a horror, romance, and fantasy, all of which will require building a vivid and convincing alternate reality, as well as practical design structures that will convey the dreamlike ‘story world hopping’ effect that we are keen to achieve.

Impact:

We know that our story will be captivating for everyone who enjoys film or fancies escaping to another world every once in a while. This film will also remind people to reach out to their loved ones and be patient with each other, instead of letting those important relationships fade away.
