I NEED YOUR HELP!
I'm taking on The Great York Walk, a 25 mile (40km) marathon walking event that will help to transform mental health by raising funds for Mentally Fit York at the University of York. This will be the third year running that I've taken part, and I'm really looking forward to supporting this amazing cause again in 2024.
In the UK, up to one in four adults and one in ten children will experience a mental health problem each year. These statistics need to change.
So together with a great community of people - some with a connection to York, some with no connection, and my boss (!) - I'm going to walk 25 miles on the 18th May around York!
Please donate anything you can to help my target and improve mental health in York and beyond! 🙂 (P.S. Follow the link if you want to find out more about the walk and the cause).
If you're in York on the day, do keep an eye out and shout encouragement - I'll need it!
about mentally fit York
My walk will be in aid of Mentally Fit York, which will promote good mental health on a local, national and international scale. Your support will be used to fund on the ground initiatives and the latest groundbreaking research.
This could include 24/7 mental health support for York students, Mental Health Nursing Scholarships, and research projects to further our understanding of mental health issues and the barriers to accessing support services. Your support will contribute to a range of initiatives and research projects which are decided by an expert panel of mental health and wellbeing researchers, practitioners and advocates.
