A short summary of your project
I am doing the The Great York Walk to raise money for Mentally Fit York. I aim to raise £150 for this worthy cause. I and my team mates have been walking since the May and we finish on the 31st of July.
So far I have walked:
- 293 miles
- 471 kilometres
- 686,250 steps
Who AM I?
I am a lecturer at the University of York and I decided to the Great York Walk as an opportunity to do something which will benefit others and me too!
My story
Having struggled with severe anxiety during the first lockdown despite the enormous support I got from my family, friends, colleagues, my employers, I now want to help others who are struggling with mental health problems. We need each other and we need to be there for each other in these days of great uncertainty.
Where will the money go?
Please donate generously as all the money you donate will go the Mentally Fit York charity. If we together can help one person struggling, we will have done a lot. Nothing can be as fulfilling and rewarding as doing something for someone else.
about mentally fit york
Our walk is in aid of Mentally Fit York, which will promote good mental health on a local, national and international scale. Your support will be used to fund initiatives such as 24/7 mental health support for York students and research projects to further our understanding of mental health issues and the barriers to accessing support services.
Your support may also go towards providing suicide prevention training, Mental Health Nursing Scholarships or it could contribute to a range of other initiatives which are decided by an expert panel of mental health and wellbeing researchers, practitioners and advocates.
