open barn productions are taking two productions to the edinburgh and great yorkshire fringes this year
We are raising money to take two productions written, directed and performed by students up to the Great Yorkshire and Edinburgh fringes! Open Barn Productions is the in house theatre company for the university's drama society, so this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent that the university has to offer. We have raised some money so far through fundraisers at the university, but we need your help to raise the rest and get up to Edinburgh!
Our shows are:
Do You Ever Get Scared? by Minna Davies - a part swapping six-hander exploring issues of justice and retribution, asking questions about our own and our society's perceptions of abuse
Something Else by Renae Mae Miller - a new absurdist comedy, following Pete and Maggie who are trapped in a resort filled with demonic staff and warped activities
Both shows will have one performance at the Great Yorkshire Fringe in July and will then be heading up to Edinburgh, where they will perform from the 2nd - 17th August at theSpace on the Mile and theSpace Triplex Studio (Do You Ever Get Scared?) and theSpace at Surgeons Hall (Something Else).
The teams have been working hard since January to get these shows together and they're looking great - see below for how your money can help us get to the Fringe!
where will the money go?
£300 - printing 10,000 flyers and 250 posters for Edinburgh
£250 - further advertising - we will use this to boost facebook posts and apply for other forms of advertising on offer in Edinburgh
£280 - show budgets! This will help both shows purchase the costume, set and props required
£670 - this will go towards the venue hire in Edinburgh. Through other fundraising efforts, we will be raising the remainder of the cost and this will count towards that!
