We're aiming to raise £2,500 to help create our TV show, Operation: Escape! We aim to make a spy-themed escape room show, where amateur spies will take on multiple challenges, from puzzles and code-cracking to experiments and laser mazes, to see if they have what it takes to become a super-spy. Our incredibly innovative team have been researching gameshows past and present, such as The Crystal Maze and Taskmaster, to create a TV show that is not just fun for the contestants but for you too. Who are WE?
The Operation: Escape team is made up of 7 third-year Film and Television Production students at the University of York. We're extremely excited about the opportunity to make something together for our final project, combining our creativity and passion to produce a TV show we hope you will love too.
What is operation: escape?
We are going to transform the campus television studios into a spy training facility so that "spies in training" can see if they have what it takes to become the ultimate super-spy. Inspired by shows like Taskmaster, The Cube, and The Crystal Maze, we are going to do our take on a gameshow packed full of challenges that test contestants' mental agility, physical strength and team cooperation. We want to create an innovative format gameshow to get families back in the living room to share a viewing experience.
With your support, we can elevate our project's concept to create an immersive viewing experience that invests the audience in both the story world and concept through imaginative set design and ambitious gameplay. Your help will allow us to excel creatively and reach our highest potential as final-year students.
Where will the money go?
With your help, we're hoping to raise £2,500. Here is our budget breakdown so you can see exactly where your donations will be used...
Interactive Set and Props = £900
One thing we admire about escape rooms is their ability to transport the players into another world, a place where they can be a new character in a different story world. To do this, we will need to build spy-themed set pieces, like vault doors, laser beams, and gadgets. It can be hard to capture intricate gameplay on camera, so we need to build large interactive set pieces to be able to immerse the audience in the action. Sizing up puzzles, wires, photos, and experiments will ensure all angles can be covered.
Costume = £400
All the gear, all the ideas. Our cast must look ready for action, featuring a sauve host and spies kitted out to make any mission possible.
Casting = £400
We are looking for willing contestants to make our show come to life, but they may live outside of York. This money will cover our cast's travel expenses and necessary accommodation.
Catering = £350
No spy (or crew member) goes unfed. You can't expect to save the world on an empty stomach.
Sound = £200
Contingencies = £250
Fail to prepare, then prepare to fail. If things go wrong, we have set aside room in our budget to make sure our shoot can still go ahead because we know there's no business like show busines
