What is the spring day Festival?
We're raising funds for our biggest event of the year! The Spring Day Festival is a showcase of multicultural talent, engaging activities and South Korean cuisine - it is more than just an evening of entertainment—it serves as a vibrant celebration of community, artistic expression, and cultural exchange.
This year's theme is 'Korea Through The Ages', which highlights the five main generations of Korean Pop Culture! With performances of songs both old and new, the Spring Day Festival will take you through a historical journey of artistic expression with a cultural twist!
by supporting this yustart campaign, you are funding more than just a festival - you are helping us to showcase a diverse selection of talented individuals, create a community for people with common cultural interests, and Educate a diverse audience on Korean/global cultures!
about uykcs:
UYKCS is the University of York's Korean Cultural Society! We aim to bring together diverse groups of people who are interested in South Korean culture - whether that includes cultural interests such as food or history, or popular content such as K-Pop or K-Dramas.
At UYKCS, we have our own internal dance crew, whose talents have been showcased at various major events this year, such as the cultural collaboration of the NASEA (North And South East Asian) Ball in November 2024, or the CSSA Lunar New Year Gala in March 2025!
our collaborations
As the Festival is an event that aims to showcase more than just Korean culture, we are collaborating with a variety of other cultural societies to bring diverse engagement to the festival.
Collaboration activity and games stalls will include:
- Henna stall to showcase South Asian culture
- Martial Arts performance/demonstration
- Cultural/traditional games stalls by other Asian societies
Where will the money go?
- AV team hire (£500)
- Performances - clothing and accessories for dancers (£250)
- Decor and stalls (£250)
Ticket sales for the event are currently unable to cover these costs as they will help to contribute to food stall costs and to pay our incredible videography/photography team who are helping out with performances.
Funding that exceeds £1000 will go towards budgets for collaborative stalls and extra food items.
