A Documentary: uncovering the physical and emotional impact of acid attacks.

Police figures show assaults involving corrosive substances have more than doubled in England since 2012, in London alone there is more than one incident reported daily. It is a heinous crime that often leaves victims scarred mentally and physically for life and goes by relatively unpunished.

In the making of this short film we intend to document the lives of acid attack victims and in doing so tell the human story of overcoming great odds in the face of adversity. Resorting to in-depth interviews to gain a better understanding of the daily struggle on the road to recovery. We are also aware of the sensitivities involved in the production and are committed to dealing with the issue tactfully.

But we need your help! By donating to this project you are helping us bring attention to the dangers imposed by the rising number of acid attacks and the everlasting impact on victims. In doing so you are giving a voice to those whose lives have been changed so drastically.

Meet the team...

We are six dedicated and passionate Film & Television Production students in our final year at the University of York. Having each worked on a variety of creative projects, we are bringing our collective knowledge and experiences together to create this documentary.

Where will your money go?

Here is our budget breakdown:

  • Transportation: £740

All the content is contributor based, which will mean travelling around the UK to film interviews, making up a substantial part of the budget.

  • Accommodation: £900

This provides us with somewhere to stay and a safe place to keep the equipment as well as a professional working environment where we can conduct the interviews if needed.

  • Catering: £360

Fuel to keep us and our contributors going for the duration of the shoot.

  • Props, Production Design: £300

Everything that will go towards making the film look its best.

  • Security Allowance: £200

Insurance money kept back to cover any unexpected expenses such as alterations to travel etc.

Any additional funding will be put towards distributing the film and making sure it is seen by as many people as possible.

Help us succeed!

Every single donation, no matter how big or small will help us realise our goal and raise awareness, so please help us tell these stories and share our project with your friends and family.
