Sponsor me to walk a marathon to help transform the state of mental health in York and beyond

For much of my life I have found that walking long distances (often with four-legged friends) has been beneficial to my mental health. I see this event as an opportunity to use the act of walking, which has been so helpful to me, as a means of raising money that will help to improve the mental health of others. This year I will be walking 25 miles in a day, aiming to raise £250 for Mentally Fit York. See further details below.

I have taken part in previous Great York Walk events in 2021 and 2022. Here I am at the finish line last year:

I NEED YOUR HELP!

I'm taking on The Great York Walk, a 25 mile (40km) marathon walking event that will help to transform mental health by raising funds for Mentally Fit York at the University of York. Mental ill-health doesn't discriminate and whether we're experts in mental health or not, we should all be able to feel safe and supported in talking to each other about our mental health.

So together with a great community of people - some with a connection to York, some with no connection - I'm going to walk 25 miles on the 3rd June around York!

Please donate anything you can to help my target and improve mental health in York and beyond! :) (P.S. If you want to find out more about the walk and the cause you can do so here)

about mentally fit york

My walk will be in aid of Mentally Fit York, which will promote good mental health on a local, national and international scale. Your support will be used to fund initiatives such as 24/7 mental health support for York students and research projects to further our understanding of mental health issues and the barriers to accessing support services.

Your support may also go towards providing suicide prevention training, Mental Health Nursing Scholarships or it could contribute to a range of other initiatives which are decided by an expert panel of mental health and wellbeing researchers, practitioners and advocates. Find out more about what Mentally Fit York has supported here.
