Thank you for your kind donations in John's memory. An incredible amount has been raised, the Leukolabs team have decided to keep this special pot for the final year of their Leukolabs PhD student (2024/25), to support them in finishing crucial experiments.

The student's thesis is looking at using multiple model systems to study rare forms of leukodystrophies.

In a nutshell: Studying rare diseases is very complex as there is limited funding available through mainstream government funding opportunities. Rapid approaches to study those diseases are needed to allow the study of multiple diseases at once and collect data for the benefit of patient care and therapy development. This Leukolabs-led project focused on newly identified/ rare forms of leukodystrophies using innovative models such as in vivo models: fly/zebrafish and in vitro: mini brains organoids.
