The Magnetic Rambling Inglesi (MRI) are walking the world - fundraising money for Mentally Fit York.

We NEED YOUR HELP!

The University of York, MRI methods group is taking on The Great York Walk, a challenge walking event that will help to transform mental health by raising funds for Mentally Fit York. Much of our group research focuses on improving our understanding of the brain, from tracking brain function to the biochemical/ionic micro-environment. We investigate changes in health and disease. So this charity is of great importance to us all!

Mental ill-health doesn't discriminate and right now, mental health has never been more important as the social implications of coronavirus begin to unravel. So together with loads of other people - some with a connection to York, some with no connection - We are going to be counting our daily steps for the next three months (10th May - 31st July) to contribute to a (virtual) 25,000 mile walking goal of the University. That's the equivalent of a walk around the Earth! We also have a separate team goal (see below).

Please donate anything you can to help our target and improve mental health in York and beyond! :)

TEAM Magnetic Rambling Inglesi (MRI).

TEAM MRI GOAL

Most of us of based in York/Sheffield. One of our team (Liz) is now living in Italy and working on advancing MRI frontiers with us remotely (in the COVID new world). We therefore have a group aim to walk (virtually) the distance between us! York to Riccione. That's 1122 miles! In 12 weeks. Let's do this and see where the York team will meet Liz. Who thinks somewhere in the Alps? Maybe we can walk there and back?

about mentally fit york

Our walk will be in aid of Mentally Fit York, which will promote good mental health on a local, national and international scale. Your support will be used to fund initiatives such as 24/7 mental health support for York students and research projects to further our understanding of mental health issues and the barriers to accessing support services.

Your support may also go towards providing suicide prevention training, Mental Health Nursing Scholarships or it could contribute to a range of other initiatives which are decided by an expert panel of mental health and wellbeing researchers, practitioners and advocates. Find out more about what Mentally Fit York has supported here.
