The Short York Walk - Injuries Guaranteed

Over 25 days, we will all walk or run 25 miles each (a combined 125 miles) to raise money for Mentally Fit York - an amazing charity that aims to transform mental health on a local, national and international scale, through supporting on the ground initiatives and the latest groundbreaking research. Support for mental health is more important than ever, especially under the current uncertain climate. Please sponsor us to contribute to an amazing cause, to support mental health, and if for nothing else, to see us struggle while doing this.

Who are we?

We are the Library and Archives Leadership team at the University of York. We are Masud Khokhar, Michelle Blake, Gary Brannan, Sarah Thompson and Jackie Knowles. During our adventures, we will be sharing our pains, thoughts, and of course injuries. We are certain that during this period, at least one of us will get injured. Honestly we are really not ready for this but we are keen to support mental health and we are going for it.

Where will the money go?

All the money raised would go to support Mentally Fit York at University of York. Mental ill-health doesn't discriminate and right now, mental health has never been more important as the social implications of coronavirus begin to unravel. Our walk will be in aid of the Mentally Fit York Fund, which will promote good mental health both at the University and across the city of York. Your support will be used to fund initiatives such as 24/7 mental health support for York students, and research projects looking to further our understanding of mental health issues and the barriers to accessing support services.Your support may also go towards providing Mental Health Nursing Scholarships, helping to ensure that the NHS is equipped to deal with the increased demand for mental healthcare as we start to become more comfortable in including discussions of mental health when we talk about our health and wellbeing in our communities.

What can you do?

If you can, please sponsor us for this cause. Even a small amount can really make a big difference. If you can't sponsor us, you can help us raise money for this great cause by sharing this fundraising campaign with your family and friends.
