I got to know John later in his life through working with his wife, Jill. What was always so impressive about John was his range of interests - his love of literature, of the great outdoors, as well as of science. There was never a dull moment in his company and he is very much missed.
John was a lovely man and is much missed by his friends in the Chamois Mountaineering Club.
