Sponsor us to walk a marathon (gulp!) to support mental health causes in York and beyond

We're taking on The Great York Walk, a 25 mile (40km) marathon walking event to funds for Mentally Fit York at the University of York. It's a cause that's close to both of our hearts and we are both ready to face the mega-blisters to raise some much-needed money to fund mental health support services.

Mental ill-health affects so many of us - either directly or indirectly - and we want to get people talking about the issue and spread the message that's it's OK not to be OK.

So as a husband and wife team (Team Bean!) we're lacing up our trainers, stuffing our pockets with jelly babies (any excuse) and we're going to walk 25 miles on the 28th May around York! The Great York Walk starts at the University, crossing Monk Stray, Bootham Stray, Clifton Ings, Hob Moor, Knavesmire, Fulford Ings and Walmgate Stray before heading back to the University campus.

Please donate anything you can to help our target and improve mental health in York and beyond! :) (P.S. If you want to find out more about the walk and the cause you can do so here)

about mentally fit york

My walk will be in aid of Mentally Fit York, which will promote good mental health on a local, national and international scale. Your support will be used to fund initiatives such as 24/7 mental health support for York students and research projects to further our understanding of mental health issues and the barriers to accessing support services.

Your support may also go towards providing suicide prevention training, Mental Health Nursing Scholarships or it could contribute to a range of other initiatives which are decided by an expert panel of mental health and wellbeing researchers, practitioners and advocates. Find out more about what Mentally Fit York has supported here.
