Who we are and what we're up to:
The University of York Concert Orchestra has been active for over twenty years and has been growing ever since. We are an entirely student-led orchestra that gives our members the opportunity to continue playing an instrument in a relaxed, social environment. Our members study a diverse range of degrees, but all share the same love of music and enjoyment of playing concerts to family and friends. This June, we are going on tour for the first time ever. We hope to bring some British music and culture to the picturesque town of Leuven, Belgium, but we need your help to make the trip viable.
We need your help!
In order for our tour to go ahead, we need to raise around £2,000 to subsidise the overall cost for our members.. Our tour will include three concerts at local venues where we will be playing some classic British favourites - think Pomp and Circumstance - and much-loved film scores like Jurassic Park and Narnia. Our tour will help develop links between the UK and Europe, and on a smaller scale, the universities of York and Leuven. As a large university town, we will be able to connect well with the student population there. Leuven is also a great city of culture, and we hope to experience and contribute to it. The tour will develop personal friendships and is a fantastic opportunity for our members to further their musical careers and have some fun along the way.
We would be very grateful for any donations made, however great or small. A trip like this is out of reach for many of our members, so by donating to our cause you'll be helping to subsidise members so the whole orchestra can travel together.
All the money pledged will go towards covering the costs of our travel, accommodation and food. Have a look at the rewards available - we hope that they'll encourage you to get involved!
