Green Blue is an experimental documentary that will explore the role of natural ‘green and blue’ spaces, as well as the latest growth of social prescription which helps connect people suffering from mental health issues with non-clinical, local treatments and communities
Now is an especially important time to provide a voice for people who suffer from clinical cases of loneliness, depression and anxiety, just to name a few.
With your donations we will be producing a film which focuses on people who have suffered from mental health issues, and have found help through nature, be that in their own garden, allotment, walk to work, or the Yorkshire Dales.
Through a series of interviews with contributors from the National Academy of Social Prescribing, DEFRA, the Ramblers, and more, we hope to create a shared testimony of the benefits of the natural world to people’s mental wellbeing.
As a team we are aware of the importance of ethical and safety standards for the film, especially when dealing with this sensitive subject matter and as a team we are committed to the safety of all involved, so that every step along the way our contributors will be fully informed.
We hope this film will raise awareness for this area of mental health, but we will need your help to make this a reality.
Our Team
We are a team of four Film and Television students in our final year at the University of York, passionate about bringing this film’s subject matter to as wide an audience as possible. Each of us are bringing our own knowledge, experiences and skills to this documentary to make it the best it possibly can be, but we also need your help to produce the film we envision.

Where will the money go?
- Transport and Accommodation: £700
In order to make this documentary we are relying on the support of some amazing contributors. In order to record their amazing testimonies sometimes we will need to travel to capture these moments. In order for this to happening this will make up a substantial part of our budget.
- Additional Equipment: £500
We are very lucky to be provided with much of the equipment required to make this film. However, we hope that we will be able to look into hiring specialist equipment, such as gimbals, and additional lenses, that will improve the overall film, allowing our cinematographer to capture some truly beautiful imagery.
- Catering: £300
We want to ensure that both the participants and the crew are well fed throughout the shoot.
- General and Administrative: £150
This covers any smaller expensive we need whilst filming - such as hard drives, photocopying costs and battery costs. All the essentials for a successful shoot!
- Post Production: £150
We have pieces of original music which we would like to compose to support and enhance the footage you will see on the screen!
- Contingency: £200
Sometimes costs arise which have not been planned for due for unforeseen circumstances. Therefore we need just that little bit extra to help us see it through!
(Based on a budget of £2000)
By contributing to this project, you will be giving us the opportunity to produce a film which raises awareness for this important topic.
